I have HM-801 and I am using the coaxial input.  I noticed via kernel log messages that the HiFace is sampling at 44.1kHz, not the maximum supported 96kHz supported by the HM-801.
 
Can someone with another Mac confirm or deny this?
 
Can someone with a non-Mac platform confirm it does 96kHz?

Before someone beats me to it, you need to access:
 
Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup.app
 
Change the output frequency to 96kHz!
 
If you change it to 192kHz while connected to a 96kHz target (e.g. HM-801), you will hear no audio (as expected).
