Interesting. We have over a million dollars invested in Avid gear at work so maybe I can get some discounts on m-audio in the future. M-audio is more consumer oriented than avid so I guess they may be looking at a different market.

Avid is at the front of the pack in forensic video analysis. Grant Fredericks teaches police and forensics techs, does video analysis, and testifies in court all over the continent. A very interesting company if you're into video in a big way.

That acquisition was completed at the end of August of last year. M-Audio was placed under the control of Avid's Digidesign audio division -- and Digidesign is the company behind ProTools (you know, the very same ProTools used in major studios to digitally edit many recordings).
