Headphone Event at The Audio Video Boutique & Design Studio
Bruce Ball of Questyle Audio and Headsonics fame invited me to join him at a very special headphone event entitled “The Listening Lounge” at The Audio Video Boutique & Design Studio in Las Vegas, a unique blend of custom interior design and high-end audio/video and another example of a dealer who gets it by throwing their arms open to the Personal Audio community. Owned and operated by John Marshall and Tammy Gerlach, one is impressed by two things upon entering; a true sense of accessibility and style and Wow they have a lot of headphones!
To expand upon the event, Dan Stillhart Browdy set up a mini Head-Fi Meet inviting local members to participate. To facilitate adventurism the room was divided into separate listening stations with a section for Budget Headphones, Mid Priced Headphones, High-end Headphones, and a Price No Object System featuring the amazing MrSpeakers VOCE Electrostatic Headphone with the HeadAmp Blue Hawaii Electrostatic Headphone Amplifier driven by a PS Audio DirectStream Junior DAC, as well as a Gaming Headphone display allowing people to experience the mind blowing Audeze MOBIUS head tracking headphone.
The music for the High-end display was controlled through tablet computers using Roon to distribute wireless streaming music via Bluesound networking components and the Questyle Audio SHB2 Super Source (streaming directly to the Questyle Audio CMA Twelve).
With a 50/50 mix of enthusiasts and Personal Audio newcomers the event was a rousing success allowing many to experience audiophile quality headphones for the very first time and opening many eyes to the possibilities of Personal Audio and what pleasure can be found in listening to music through proper sound equipment.
Needless to say, I, and everybody else, had a great time and felt the trip was well worth making.
