What other brands and models other than Grado's have low impedance ?

What kind of music will you be listening to? You have to narrow it down, because I believe most consumer headphones are low impedance, however please correct me if I'm wrong.

I checked several models of Sonys and they are all in the 70ohms category, Senns are in the 50s.

Are Goldrings any good ?

Why do you need it to be low impedance headphones?

All the experiences I have with low impedance headphones, there arent any advantage of being low itself. Yes, for some models, e.g. Beyers, lower 32ohm may have difference in sound in comparison with 250ohm versions. But low impedance alone doesnt mean better sound.

With DAPs, e.g. with my Creative, there isnt any difference if the can were 32ohms or 250ohms. They both need volume to be cranked up, they both sound as crappy without an amp.

AKG 701 --- ~60z
AKG 601 --- ~ 120z
any AT-- no more than ~50z
any Ultrasone -- < ~75z, , my 2500 (750) are ~40z
Goldring DR150 at 32z

Another set of Grado/non-Grado phones would be the Alessandro series. Made by Grado of course, but with a different enough sonic signature to perhaps be considered a separate line.

Same low impedance as the Grados, but surprisingly; the MS-1 and MS2i are 2db more efficient.

...wonder why.

Precide Ergo AMT, 4 Ohms.

The sensitivity rating is another thing altogether though. People seem to forget that you need to know both to have an appriciation of the type of amplification that a headphone needs.

Exactly!

Ppl tend to blindly look at ohms, which is bad, mkay...

Right! And knowing both can help a lot when something really weird happens!

For instance; my 300 ohm HD600s are more than just a little easier to drive through my old Onkyo receiver than my 32 ohm MS2i!!

High current amps'll do that for ya.

But yet my low current PCDP needs about three times the vol setting than the similar 100db 32 ohm MS-1 for driving the 97db 600s.

Not weird really, just counterintuitive considering what we normally associate with high impedance cans always being harder to drive.
