So loudspeakers have gained my interest as of recent and I have learned a few things about electrostatic transducers. However, my knowledge about them is still developing. I have looked at brands such as Bowers & Wilkins, KEF, Paradigm, Wharfedale, and even the simple and budget-friendly Andrew Jones Pioneer loudspeakers. Yet what do you guys recommend? I would prefer to maintain a $1000 budget maximum for loudspeakers at the moment. If there is a good recommendation for both a loudspeaker set and amplifier that is within this budget, please do share. I should mention however, my purchase wouldn't be made until late January, early February (which is not all too far away considering it is already December).

The websites AVSforum & AVforum are more dedicated to Home Audio.
Check the website Techbargins for good deals on audio.
If you know the make and model number of what you want, use the website Bountii to find the lowest prices.

My room is roughly 16' by 18'. For the amplifier, I'd prefer to stay at about $500 or less, but $1000 maximum.

Yamaha Adventage RX-A700, it's about as low cost as you can get for a Yamaha receiver that comes with the better built in speaker amplifier(s).

I would also consider the following:

Outlaw Audio - RR2150 stereo receiver ($699) - http://outlawaudio.com
NAD C326 BEE stereo integrated amp ($549) - http://www.nadelectronics.com

Fluance XL7F floorstanding loudspeakers ($499/pair) - http://www.fluance.com
Axiom Audio M50 floorstanding loudspeakers ($860/pair) - http://www.axiomaudio.com
Also the PSB Imagine line, but at $1k you're looking at stand mounted monitors (Imagine B)

Good luck and happy listening!

You should co sider active monitors they integration the parts in them produce better bettr sound than passive set up. Audiophiles are beginning to disocver them nd have sold theyre high end systems and replaced with actives. But if your set on passive I would recommend class A amplifier like the mjsical fidelity a1 and a set of three way speakers like the jblstudio line.

Here's a shortcut you can consider if you're not too keen on huge bass.

Quad 12L Actives, these are better than the d430's I recommended earlier, esp given the advantages you gain by spending 200$ more.

Make an offer of 650 to the guy and buy them, you'll save yourself the headache of looking for an amplifier, gain the advantages of dual amplifiers + active crossover as well as the quality of the passive 12L, not to mention you'll save all the cost of buying cables (Which is another headache). The difference between the passive 12L and active 12L is that the 12L is has dual amplifiers inside the enclosure tuned straight from QUAD's stables as they envisioned the sound of the 12L. 60W/40W dual amplifiers power the woofer and tweeter separately. Making them more expensive than the passive 12L's.

If you can get this for 650 usd, it's a very good bargain. Even 700 is a great price.
The Quad 12l is a textbook grade reference speaker with near flat response that's appreciated by thousands worldwide.
4 in one benefit + affordable, you can't ask for anything better unless you're a Bassfreak or a purist.

It will dish out all the content in a track, but don't expect earth shaking bass or chest thumps. Lesser is better for music reproduction.

If you need more reassurance, check out this post in the earlier thread we spoke on =)
