Grado's leak ALOT, but I'm not sure how loud they go. They have superb sound quality, but I'm not sure that applies when not wearing them on your head. They are also not the most durable which makes them not necessarily ideal for hiking. I saw a while back headphones that can be used as normal headphones or turned around as speakers. They were called flips. You can check out their website here at www.flipsaudio.com/. They do have a battery, but it's only used when using the speakers. At medium volume it's supposed to last six to seven hours. Not sure if you can interchange batteries allowing you to switch them when they die. Give me a bit to read up on them and I'll report back . Hope this helps.

I'd like to know your price range so I can set a baseline of what I'm looking for. Thanks.
