My headphones lost its bass and I just swapped the cable and it worked like a dream.

I have the same issue here. bought a Beyerdynamic DT 770 80ohm, the wire is too long. I make it shorten and solder my own 3.5 mm jack. Initially, the bass lost a lot, near half volume. The bass still goes deep but just volume decrease. After viewing this post I resolder the ground wire only. now all the bass back.
Just curious why the ground connection only affects the bass only.
