I tried installing RockBox on my 5th gen iPod yesterday. Everything worked well and I was really happy until I realized that 800 of my 5000 songs were missing. These files seemed to be in all different audio formats...I couldn't find a common factor between them. Anyone else had a similar problem or know how to fix this?

Did you refresh the database?

The files are still on your ipod but they are hidden. The filenames and format is also slightly different I think. Itunes changes them when added to your player.

Rockbox will still find them and add them to your database.

Go to Settings-Database-Update Now.

I went to settings --> General Settings --> Database --> Update Now
A little message popped up saying "updating in background"
Still missing around 800 songs from my library though...

They might have tag options that are corrupt. I remember seeing some files in my library that would never be recognized correctly.

Could these be files with DRM? Rockbox cannot play files with DRM (and I'm not sure if they would show up in its database). Or, they could be files with missing tags / corrupt tags as Punnisher mentioned.
