The first time I had it soldered on I had it the other way and it didnt work. U3 should be be front channels right? The reason there isnt one on U4 is because i got frustrated after U3 and U5 didnt work and so I said screw it. However, I shall try again!

So are you sure those 3 positions are correct for surround sound?

the Audigy2 ZS has exactly the same DAC, and all 5 opamps are identical, to those on the X-Fi (not Elite/XtremeAudio)

so, wouldn't you be able to switch the op-amps in the same way as the X-Fi "Hotrod" mod?

I'm just waiting on more LM4562's to turn up before doing all 5 op-amps on my A2ZS

Yes, you can, I did it on mine. The opamps are in different positions. U2 is the front channels.

It makes a difference and does sound better, but it's still a relatively crap card. For anyone who uses it as a main source Id seriously suggest getting a USB dac.

I'm gonna do it on the front and rear outs as I'll be using it with the kX drivers... I dunno if the A2ZS has the same I2S vs AC97 for the rear vs fronts... hopefully I can prod around with my DMM and find out which op-amp is the rear
