I really like my Amperiors, but I've been wondering if there's a "step up", so to speak, that I can take in the portable headphones category. I'm looking for:
- Under $500
- Plays all genres of music well, maybe with a particular knack for ambient (like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhfKK547r94 or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AEEgWUakrY&spfreload=10) but not necessary
- Sturdy for portability's sake (I've been spoiled a bit by Sennheiser's build/design)
- Good passive noise cancellation 
- Doesn't matter if it's on-ear or over-ear
