Hi, I am looking to buy a new headphone under $1000. Personally I listen to a lot of alternative rock 50%, pop 40%, and other. My setup is the cypherlabs duet and algorhythm solo-db. I currently have Akg Q701 and Fostex th600 but the th600 are too bright for me and can be annoying to listen to. Any recommendations

If Th600 is too bright for you Audioquest Nighthawk is the one for you I think.Very smooth. Give it some burn in time though, like 100+ hours.

Lcd works great with everything even jazz.. i would recommend them even if they sound a little darker then the rest. Or hifiman 560 is good buy too.

How does the Lcd-2 compare to the hifiman in terms of bass and warmth? Is the hifiman bright at times or get hot in the treble?

I have not personally heard the hifiman's but i've read they are leaning more to the neutral side of planars with less bass exstension but more treble in that sense. I can speak highly for the LCD 2 because i im listening to a pair myself . These cans do music great the only thing to concider is that they are darker then neutral sounding headphones like the HD 600 for example. Something im missing is that sparkly treble when im lesting to jazz but everything else have so much detail.

Do you have the Hd 650 by any chance? Do you think its worth $500 more to get the Audeze LCD-2?

Yea its a pretty big jump in instrument seperation, clarity and depth overall. I got the hd 600. you get what you pay for all is the common rule for most professional brands besides beats by dre imo.

yeah try checking out the lcd 2 in a store before you buy so you know its right for you after all its 1000 bucks !
