Incased in the Gigabag, I wouldn't worry too much about the protection issue, cause in a case and the Gigabag, you're investment should be safe. with the case go function, form, fit and style. With the amp go with your gut. (I'd go straight to the Xin myself

...though I can understand the money issue with that choice) What I've found through age is that you may as well go with what you want because if you don't later you'll just wish you had, and then it'll just cost you more money...for some that's the Head-Fi experience.

Well, one thing about being married with a fairly modest budget is that if I splurge, I am taking money away from my wife, in a way. So I would probably go for it if it were just about me and getting some possible credit card debt, but since it is hurting her too... (not to mention the possibility of tension in the relationship). I've already convinced her it is okay to get the iPod and iMod and a small amp and a case...

Anyway, this way in 3 months when I am in the mood for audio equipment again I'll have something to buy

(Oh, and also, I can't wait 3 months for a Xin amp. When my iMod shows up I want to be able to use it.)

I can understand that. I bought my rig before my Fiance and I combined our finances. Now I would have to wait. I've put getting my bike (motorcycle) on hold again. First I used the money to buy the ring...now its the wedding. I have a motorcycle licence and all the protective gear, and no bike. But it can wait...for now.

If I wasn't in my mid-thirties and still in my twenties I'm not sure I would have the same restraint. Getting the iMod is a big purchase, I know I debated long and hard before spending the money. When I said in the last post you should go with your gut I was refering to the Go-Vibe, I kinda already figured the xin would be a down the line thing for you. If I was still single I probably would have several amps to play with and decide which I liked better.

The Go-Vibe looks good for an affordably priced amp. Don't know too much about the LDM+, though I did check it out online. You're right and I wouldn't disagree with you, getting your rig up and running and useable comes first, and then you can hint about what you'd like to get as an anniversary present or birthday present...Plus then you can sell whichever amp you do get on Head-Fi and make the gift more affordable for both of you.

I want it to fit right around the iPod and amp without hindering usage. I know that is probably too much to ask, but anything approaching this would be appreciated!

Have a look at the LowePro camera bags/cases. I have a very small case that I use for my small Canon Power Shot. My iPod fits nicely into the case (sans camera) and I know a small amp would fit as well. Case comes with a shoulder strap and belt clip as well.

Hey Spaceman...

I like the look of those, but I'd prefer something that lets me use the iPod without taking it out of the case. That's the main problem with the camera cases as I see it.
