I have been on the hunt for a solution to my problems for some time now and I refuse to believe that with the popularity of computer audio this product does not exist.
I want to create a serious audio setup irrespective of what computer (PC or Mac or Both) I choose to use. All I want is a way to bypass all this Kmixer and OSX rubbish and just get a pure stream of information to a device (preferably via Ethernet) that will transport the data to an external DAC. I have looked into the Squeeze Box, but I don't want it's DAC I just want it's output and from what I have read you need to get a special regulated power supply etc in order to get the most out of it and it seems most of the mods are for sound quality of it's DAC.
I am not very knowledgeable in software engineering or the technical side of computers, so is what I am asking for possible? Does it exist?
So the idea again:

Computer>>>> Ethernet>>>>perfect digital out (no DAC, no built in HDD, no hiss.... just digital out)
