I currently have nuforce 6m and they are great. Sometimes having them in my ear all the time bothers me. I'm also aware I can get better quality with bulkier headphones.

Here are my criteria:
Best 'phones for classical music (video games and other music included, classical most important!)

Looking to spend around 50 bucks give or take a few

No amp! I want to listen to them through my laptop and sometimes my ipod

Open or closed, whichever gives best sound!

Please throw me suggestions so I can extend my list of research!

Try the HD555's. They have good tonal balance and decent soundstage (vital to gaming and classical

thanks

I also have a quick question about open headphones. I have never owned a pair. If I am listening at normal volume while sitting next to someone, can others around me hear what I'm listening to? Are some open 'phones different from others in this respect?

For the HD555's and HD600's, the answer is yes. I guess most full size open phones are like that...

In that case, I think I better go with closed phones. I often listen to music in the library.

I'm going to go against the grain here and suggest the Yuin G2A. Absolutely beautiful clarity and some of the most accurate instrumental reproduction I've heard at the $50 mark. They don't isolate at all and leak a little but, but nowhere near as bad as fully open cans.

+1.

Can't they attach to the "Mini Headphones" headband (from Parts Express)?

these are over 100 dollars out of my price range. Where on Earth could I find them for $100?

the best headphones you can get for under $50 is the portapro/ksc75/iGrado

but seriously save up if you're looking for an all arounder

I like the 440 because it has good amount (damn you K518

) of bass

when listening to the classics (air supply
smily_headphones1.gif
) or classical, you can feel the drums without being overwhelmed by the bass

I am willing to stretch the budget to 100 if the difference is worth the price tag.

Also, I used to have an older model of what appears to be the sony v6. They sounded great, a little better than the nuforce iems I have now, but not good enough to warrant that kind of price tag. Are there other options that sound better for the same price?
