HI all,

I've have my home rig just the way I want it (for now

). But it has really highlighted how much my portable rig sucks (Zen Micro -> PX100s). Here's what I want for my 500 bucks... New DAP, Amp and IEMs.

I month ago I would have looked for IEMs that doesn't need an amp, but I no w know this is a fool's errand as I'll inevitably get curious about how much better an amp will sound.

I like the sound from my Zen but the headphone jack is faulty so I need to apply a rubber band to the phone plug to keep the sound from cutting out.

I listen to rock, indie, electronica, jazz and classical, so Im looking for a good allrounder.

So with a clean slate and 500 bucks to spend what would you guys suggest?

Thanks for your reply.

OK, I'll give more details.

In a DAP I'm looking for something <200,Im not really interested in video. My priorities are sound quality, storage capacity, ease of use (syncing to/from PC) and battery life, in that order.

I don't like the idea of 2nd hand IEMs, they seem such a delicate piece of equipment that I'd prefer the security of buying new. Also I've never used IEM before so I'd like a 30 day return option if I cant stand having them in my ear.

$199 - iPod Mini
$180 - Super.Fi 5 Pro (for bass) or Shure e4c (for clarity)
$60/$90 - LDM+ (low gain configuration) or a Xenos OHA-REP

The rest will probably be spent on shipping, but you're right at $500.
