I'm limited in my options, I didn't know at the time of my receiver purchase I'd be limited without preouts.  I'm looking for some Left and right speakers for my 7.1 setup.  I'm willing to lose my side speakers to bi-amp for extra power.  I was considering some swan monitors and placing them on some stands, some people have mentioned polk as well.  My specs show about 100watt @ 8ohm but I'm not sure if that's RMS or not.  my receiver is my dac and gets audio by hdmi from my computer.  I'm looking to add speakers to favor music, that what I primarily do with my home theater setup.  My headphone setup is actually pretty decent.  HD650 and La Figaro 339 with HRT MusicStreamerII+. Wanted to see what you guys think.  So many speakers I'm a bit overwhelmed.

Well for music peeps either use floor standers with decent low freq performance or bookshelf/monitors + sub or even straight 2.0 floor standers/bookshelfs/monitors if genre of music not bass heavy for example 5.1/7.1 would be more for movies/games me thinks hehe By the way how big an area are you looking to fill or how far away is your listening position?

When playing music I'm only using 2.1 currently.  My sub is powered.  Since I have limited power I'm thinking bookshelf would properly match my system.  I don't think I could properly power floorstanding speakers.  I listen to all sorts of music from heavy bass hip hop, trance, jazz, list goes on.  the 7.1 is only engaged when I have tracks from movies playing which isn't what I'm concentrating on.  my primary focus is to get some bookshelf or towers that can be powered by my box without damaging the amp in the rec or damaging the speakers.

I don't have a pre outs so I can't upgrade my amp, that's the limitation I have.  My current speakers just suck at mids and highs.  I'll deal with my sub later, as that will be it's own budget.
