So heres the deal... I LOVE my AKG 240's... I love the distance it feels like it gives me from the headphones themselves. The sound feels so open and spacial and offers and nice touch of airy goodness that I truly love. I tried the HiFiman HE400's per forum recommendation and was I not impressed by the sound presentation. Despite the open back I felt that spacial awareness wasn't as differentiating compared to the 240's and and detail and clarity wasn't as crisp either. Perhaps I like the slight coloration that a moving coil speaker offers (at least from the giant ones in the K240's). Regardless Im looking for something in the $250 range that would further offer a more detailed listening experience with maybe at least slight increase in lower frequencies. Any suggestions to steer me in the right direction?

AKG K702/Q701/K7XX/K712 would be worth looking at. Also, Beyerdynamic DT880 perhaps would work. What's your source?
