As the topic says, I might be retrieving a laptop here soon, only problem is it's bound to hold the curse of crappy onboard audio. (Asus G50VT)
I would love to have some sort of 5.1 from the laptop, as I am an avvid DTS listener from time to time, but really I'm just looking for a high quality stereo output for my current rig (see signature.) I've yet to touch or read-up on DACs, so I'm not really sure if that's the best route for this situation. I know the laptop has an optical output, but I'm willing to go the USB route if I have to.
My current rig's sound card, the Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty (don't ask... it was free ) outputs suprisingly enjoyable sound for my needs, but I'm slowly drifting away from the gaming era and going into the media/business-focused era (ironic, I know) of my life. So I could care less about it being a "gamer's card", but I'd really love similar quality.
Much obliged in advance, Head-Fi. I'm so lost here
