Looking for some portables for my karma. Must have an impedance of less that 65ohms. My flavor is powerfull, warm, transparent, slightly heavy punchybass, with heavy detailed unharsh highs? I'm really sensitive to highs, hate my Grado 225s cuz of this. I'm willing to spend $500CDN. Looking at the UM2's, would these my best bet?

I don't know about the UM2...

But seriously, check out the KSC-35 or PortaPro (or both!). Warm and Bassy

! They're only 30-50 USD (sorry, I don't know Canadian values).

I don't know about this (for sure).. But maybe you should look at the Shure E5's (do a search on Head-Fi). Some dont the highs on the UM2.

Had all those koss's you mentioned, Basically the whole porta driver series. Find them decent, but too bloated in the mids with un-detailed small hissy highs, looking for better.

Add a 75-Ohm adapter (or something close) and the mids improve. Also the bass becomes more controlled.

Amping helps too...
