Hello, I am looking for new headphones since I have my beats solo 3 from 3 years ago. I am looking for some headphones under 300 dollars and that preferably do not need to be run out of an amp.

Are you looking for open or closed back? Wired or wireless? Most of your recommendations from here are going to be wired open backs.

In that case, I would look at a set of beyerdynamic dt990 80 ohms, or perhaps a hifiman he400se.

do you think that those are better than the beyerdynamic 770 or the hd58x?

The hd58x would be another good contender, and as for the 770, I would personally do the 990 over it simply because of the advantages of an open back over a closed.
What kind of music do you listen to? Do you like the sound of the Beats, which emphasize bass?

I mostly listen to jazz and use them for video games and watching youtube-so basically all around
I'd highly recommend the ones I just got, the Drop pc38x with the included velour pads. For gaming they're terrific and with some EQ music is excellent. They're easy to drive and a nice upgrade from the pc37x which I have also. The drop audio sale ends Monday so they're still on sale the AKG K371pro are also great for low power or mobile devices, nice bass and out of the box sound really good, equalizing didn't make them much better. The Hifiman HE400se was good too, and don't scale with power, easy to drive too. The stock white cable stinks so plan on replacing it though.

Do you think I could get something much better around the 300 dollar mark?
