Hey all, can anyone recommend any decent PC speakers/monitors? I just had a pair of Klipsch 4.1 die on me after about 20+ yrs and am looking to replace them. I just got some Edifier R1280T's for the time being and the tweeters sound like @#%%^&$%. The rest of it (mids/bass) is actually not bad for the price but now am looking for something better.

I've been looking at KRK, Yamaha, Adam audio, but have no idea on how good these are, can anyone recommend something decent in the +/- $500 range?

Me, I think I would go after JBL LSR306 studio monitors.

I have no suggestions on specific gear but wanted to mention that often the position of the port/vent is important. Back-firing ports often cause the bass to be boomy if you position the speakers near the wall. In that case, front ports can sound better and also give a sense of more impactful bass since the pressure is directed at the listener.

If you want more bass, consider a separate subwoofer. You can only get so much bass from a small enclosure and small drivers. A sub works well in the scenario that you need small boxes on the desktop but want less of a compromise of overall sound quality.

I'm actually bass limited, I live in an apartment at the moment so even if the bass extension is good, I couldn't use it anyway and would have to turn it down.
My 20+ yr old Klipsch promedia 4.1 bit the dust yesterday and so on the hunt for something new. Right now it looks like adam audio T7V is at the top of my list.
