Hello, I'm looking for some headphones for gaming / music / movies / tv. Not sure if something like this exists. My budget is around 300-500 dollars. My Steelseries Siberia V2 headset just took a ****... and now I decided i'd go for quality. If you have any questions.. please ask.

Are you looking at open or closed cans--or do you have a preference? What sound signature are you looking for? What source(s) will you be using for all this?

No preference on open or closed. Sound signature? Not sure what you mean by that. Source? umm.... I take it either my sound card or if i need something to run them. I'm very new to this sorry :(

Do you have a preference for a more especially emphasized bass or treble? Do you like more forward mids? Or do you prefer something more neutral, meaning, a more balanced, accurately rendered presentation of the music or signal? If you don't know the answer to any of this, that is fine, too. We'll just go from there.

Umm... I'm assuming for me using these headphones for gaming / music / tv / movies... would just neutral be best? Not sure how to answer.

Okay. Last question. Most of the headphones in the $300-500 range require a dedicated headphone amplifier. Are you interested in cans that need an amp, or would you prefer to look at cans that can run directly from your soundcard/phone/gaming system without the addition of an external amp?

I would be interested in headphones that require an amp if both fit within my budget.

They are considered an excellent all around headphone for the money when they were selling for $350.

With a Soundblaster Z, you might want to add a headphone amp for them (depends on how loud you listen).

Any recommendations on a headphone amp?

Wait and see if you think you need it. If you aren't coming close to pushing the limits of of how loud your soundcard can go with them, and a headphone amp may not make much difference.

But if you want a headphone amp anyway, this is a good one: http://schiit.com/products/magni-2

Okay so I might just go for the HD600... What about a mic i can attach and turn it into a headset for gaming? anyone familiar with the antlion modmic?

I'm looking for a similar option and I found that as well. I've mostly heard good about it. I just need to find out if they sell them in Europe.
