I went from long time favorites AKG-7xx to the Brainwavz Alara.
I fell in love with the "u" shaped curve and the sub bass responsiveness. ie Extended Bass / Normal Mids / Extended treble
Issue is comfort. The type of headband plus the weight of the headphones puts pressure on one point of my head and after a hour it hurts. I gave it a month of daily usage it got better (at first it was 10 minutes)
I have a large head. I have owned 880/990 pros and 6xx these headphones had way to much clamping force (even after bending and having them stretched at maximum for multiple days)
So here is what i am looking for *Musts*
1. Have a Headband like the AKG-7xx
2. Fits big heads with light to no clamping
3. be under $450
I think i want planar bass (no roll off in the sub bass) - but it doesnt need to be Planar
Sound stage - I have the 7xx's i can swap to.. so not as important.
Critical listening - im looking for "fun" headphones..
For amperage i have a schiit stack. (Modi - > Loki -> Vali2)
