Hello,

I'm looking for a new pair of headphones but I don't have an idea where to start.
My budget is around $150,- and I am looking for a true sounding headphone.
I've already found the Shure SRH840 but I want to know if there are better options out there.

Are there any specific pairs you guys would recommend?

Thanks in advance,

I listen to mostly to the follow genres of music:

- Hip Hop / Rap
- Trance
- Dance
- Drum & Bass
- Rock

Fischer Audio FA-003
Shure 840
AudioTechnica M50 or 700Pro MKII
Ultrasone HFI 580 (my vote goes here)
Sennheiser HD280
DT770 Pro (used, around $160, see for sale forum, it's there)

Very best,

I cannot recomend the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PREMIUM 32 enough.
I really feel like these get a bad rap because of the boomy mud that comes from the Pro 80s.  (my shure 840s caused my old 770 pros to be GIVEN away).
The difference is considerable.  and if you want something with punch and big boomy sub bass while still somewhat tight the premiums are your cans.
But even though they are 32 ohm they still need power.

i have the 840s and the 770/32 and for the genres listed i would almost always pick the beyers.  Some rock i like the shures more but not all.

i got mine for 150$ it was b stock as they had been used at a trade show.  watch ebay.

ive had the M50s, 770 pros, and currently have the DT990 840s and the 770/32 and for those genres the 770/32 are by FAR my favorite.

HFI-580 for overall detail and bass clarity, Audio Technica Pro700 MK2 if you prefer bass as your priority.

I have a comparison review if you need it, in my sig :)
