Where to even find these un modded these days?

I owned a pair like 10 years ago and sold them, my one regret and I would buy another pair of them over all the headphones listed as well.

That's true, they only rarely come up but on occasion you see them - or could try posting a WTB.

Unfortunately i have not come across some, only some cables and grills. WTB posting is of course always an option, have not done that here yet but tbf i never had HE 500s and i cannot be sure if they are really worth it, no offense at all, they obvs have fans

I totally agree. Everyone finds what they are looking for in different places. I'm not someone who has heard everything either - far from it. But yeah, the 500 and 6SE V2 are really fantastic to my ears - i really love that previous generation line from Hifiman.
