Hey all,

First time posting on this side of head-if!
I’m a big time fan of instrumental/classical music; symphonies, quartets, jazz, movie scores, etc. etc. Right now, I’ve been listening to a lot of Russian classical; Rachminov, Shostakovich, etc. but I want to continue to explore.

I’m a big fan of epic sounding music. Anything in the minor key is always welcomed as well. Basically, whatever you got!

Check out the Warsaw Concerto by Addinsell:

It sounds like a romantic era composition, but the piece was actually composed for the 1941 film Dangerous Moonlight.

Tchaikovsky has quite a few epic compositions too.

Chopin has quite a few nice ones. Check out stuff like Fantasie Impromptu.

Thanks!
I do like Tchaikovsky a lot, I should have mentioned him.
I have yet to delve into Chopin.

Love that song you shared.

Definitely check out Glazunov’s second symphony for something off the beaten path. Why this is isn’t recorded more is beyond me. It’s easily the equal of any of Tchaikovsky’s minor symphonies.

And another forgotten barn-burner is Zemlinsky’s B Flat symphony. To me, this one holds its own with a lot of Mahler’s works and should definitely be played more.
