I have been searching for months, reading reviews, asking around, trying to get a solid can in my price range. Currently I'm looking at spending no more then 250$ For a amp and some cans. Right now I'm stuck with two, the akg k 240 mk II and some DT 770's. I have also been looking into a focusrite VRM box for the amp. I produce music, mostly house/trance/progressive, I want a well balanced headphone but one that isn't to overly flat. Unfortunately, I don't have the option of just walking into a store to test cans out (I live in a very rural area, and the nearest city that carries even anything remotely close to these cans is quite a drive), so I'm solely taking everyone's word on which would fulfill my preferences.

Thanks to anyone and everyone that can help me pick my first cans!

i havnt tried the akg, but the DT 770/80 are amazing!! i pair mine with a FiiO E11.. although they are quite bass heavy, and dont think that would be ideal if your looking for something more neutral. I know a lot of DJs in the trance scene that use Sennheiser HD25s, you could have a look into those :)

Thanks for your input man! The HD25's were a possibility at one time, but if my memory serves me right, the reviews were all over the place (and the cheap price kinda worried me). I have a tendency to over do bass, I love bass and when mixing, it can be a huge downfall of mine. This is why I'm looking for a very flat can, so when I do over-do the bass, it's noticeable. Currently I tend to use many resources to mix my songs, phone, ear-buds, headphones, stereo systems etc., to get an even flow of the song, but I would like to be able to do this with more ease, that is why I have been stuck on the VRM box, It has an awesome feature which allows you to play back your songs, it allows the user to reference the song with different speaker environments, a little research can explain this in more depth.
