Probably not the way to go about this, but I've been out of the headphone game for a sufficient amount of time that I don't even know what to look for...so I'm hoping for some suggestions (hopefully local, so I can check the product out first hand) for a middle-of-the-road IEM (up to $150AUD)

Again, sorry if this is an inappropriate post/section to post such a request...but any help would be great!

hi there! i'm from melbourne (prahran to be exact) and the best place by far to buy is Headphonic | Australian Headphone Specialists: Buy Etymotic, Alessandro, Audio Technica, Ultimate Ears, Talisman, Meier Audio and more as they do free shipping and have the largest range.

other than that, the new apple store in chadstone has a bit of a range, and harvey norman in chadstone let you try out the shures.

but for price, i bought my westone um1s off ebay for $110 shipped.

go to earphonesolutions.com they offer free international shipping on anything over $150USD you wont be able to get shures though because they are a shure dealer therefore have tp leave it up to shure australia to sell them to you. but UE Westone etc no problem

otherwise if you buy in australia unfortunately you get wroughted on price

Depending on what you want (and where you are) there are places like Welcome to audiophile (Fitzroy North) and Audiolifestyle (Fitzroy) - both have a small selection of IEMs and a storefront so you can see what you're getting.
OTOH, some 'mainstream' stores like JB Hi-Fi are starting to carry a reasonable selection of low end IEMs.
