Looking for high quality sound closed back or closed headphones with removeable cable(s) for $700 or less that sound like the Denon AH-D 2000 or better ?

Things have moved on in the 10 years since the Denons were released and have a budget of $700 gives you a wide range of options. What research have you done to narrow down your options here? Simply asking for something better than 10 year old cans is pretty vague....
