looking for help with picking the right headphones

Sorry to revive this thread, but do the A700s really sound bad?

I am looking into a good closed can. I saw that the A500s are like 100 bux, and I can spend up to $160..

Are the A700 the best closed cans for the price?

I'm not sure I follow..

Your saying the A700s arent as popular, but the 500s are and the 900s are?

I guess...I dunno, it's just that nobody's ever bought them before, it's really not worth it...if you want a model up from the A500s, just save up an additional 50 bucks from the A700s and get the A900s, which use the Aluminum earcup covers...It doesn't really make much sense to get the A700s...I haven't heard them, so I can't say anything about them though.

Would you call the A500 "bose triport killers" ?

And how much isolation do you get out of them?

I see that the A9x look like they sound pretty good for the price, they are also 32 ohms..

I can afford to buy the A500s right now, but I see that they are 64 ohms..

The bose Triports are also 32 ohms, my dad has them, and they arent very difficult to drive with the ipod. So I'm thinking that the A9x will do about the same which is great.

Anyone know how a 64 ohm headphone would run? I think I might need to build a small amp?

ahh!

An ipod should drive them just fine. Though, I'm not sure they're such a great pairing, with the Axxx series being so large and unportable and the ipod being a portable unit.

I was just thinking that as well...

Going from the shure E3 to the a9x is a big move..
