There's something I do not quite understand in this picture. That white cable goes in and out the earpad?
Yeah. In order to make it look legit, I would have had to remove original cable, re-solder and reroute it the way I want it. Since I didn’t want to mess with it, wire had to be run around wood circle frame. I have done this with my own KPH30i plus detachable cable mod on other pairs. These KPH30i still sound better than my AKG702. Way better.

More and more i begin to think that there is no endgame at 2k pricerange. Either you go for a HD600/650 or other vintage Sennheiser or for a full highend like Utopia,009,SR1A. The headphones in between are not better than the 600/650. They are only less demanding and easier to drive which means you don't have to invest that much in gear. But i'm pretty sure now there isn't a headphone in the 2k range that clearly beats a good driven 600/650/540.

My few pairs of modified/recabled Koss KPH30i beat many entry level known headphones. Difference between those Koss cans and my higher end headphones is obvious but is it worth the money? I’ll leave that for a debate. Love them all tho.

Well @OctavianH, your cable suggestion triggered ADHD so I kinda put a bandaid on it. This KPH30i supposed to be based on their gray color version. Which would make it look a lot better. Unfortunately Amazon is behind with their shipments and gray KPH wouldn’t arrive on time so white would have to suffice. Also fixed that headband. Didn’t like color and it got a bit wonky due to heat gun treatment. Because of oversized pads+wood frame, it needed some reshaping. Lol

Quite cool. But that green box still makes me think you have an M1 Abrams in your garden.
It’s Abrams of boomboxes. That’s about it.

I found this headphone test video from Abyss while browsing through their vids. Haven’t test it myself just yet, but it sure looks cool.

Will be doing a an A/B shootout between Disturbed LP vs Stream soon.
Also, totally off topic.
Is anyone using this (or similar) to get DSD/DVD A/SACD via HDMI to HDMI IN IS2 of their DAC?

And if anyone is interested, I just finished reviewing Burson Audio V5i opamp with Topping D50s DAC. It’s somewhere in product section.
For those of us who are up on their "visual recognition of every piece of gear on the planet [especially for devices I'm just discovering I might need]" skills ... what IS that, please? TIA.
