Looking for Flat Response

The dt48 and CD900ST are the two cans that have peaked my interest being as they seem to be very neutral headphones with flat responses (especially the CD900ST as it is very popular in studios in japan). Would the dt48 and CD900ST require amps?

EQ'ing the headphones are out of the question, as I plan on using these headphones on multiple devices, some not capable of EQ.

Both are easy to drive. I'd lean towards the CD900ST more plentiful bass, & better treble extension.. And another member feels the 900 was more balanced out of the two.. I am a DT48 fan boy, but for you I feel the 900 would be a better fit for you.

Yes, I never thought of that.. Any genre with bass thump, the DT48 is at a disadvantage.
