Looking for Desktop Amplifier

wrathzombie, did you get an amp & headphones in the end?

I own a TEAC A-H01 to drive my desk speakers. I'm looking to buy a pair of HD650's, DT880's (600ohm), or HE-400, but I'm wondering if the amp will be able to drive them well, seeing as it's not a dedicated headphone amp.

Anyone know? :)

I got the Maverick Audio A1. Drives my Bookshelves fairly well. My current headphones don't really need an amp but I think the Z1000 works fairly well. I think so far the only thing I have noticed is that turning the volume knob too quickly creates some distortion but that is manegable.

Haven't got the DT880 or HD650 yet.

I'd just check the local classifieds (here in the US it could be craigslist) and get a used/ vintage receiver.  You can get some good prices on older gear with first rate sound.
