Looking for dark classical recording

By "minimalist" do you mean composers associated with a group/school deemed minimalists? If so, think Terry Riley, Steve Reich, Phillip Glass, Michael Nyman. But do yourself a favor and just go buy Arvo Part's Alina and/or Tabula Rasa.

George Crumb's Songs, Drones and Refrains of Death, for Baritone, percussion and amplified instruments. This is an unsettling -- and very violent -- work based on the works of the Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca. The vocal writing reminds me a lot of Balinese "monkey chants".
