Hey all,
 
I need some recommendations for a budget headphone. I've been looking at the Superlux HD-668 B and the Samson SR850.
 
I'm looking for something that works well for all types of music and/or any headphones that will make the mids and highs sound great. Would any of these headphones I mentioned do well? I cannot find the HD668B anywhere in Australia but I can find the SR850 quite easily.
 
Edit: How are the Sony MDR-V55? they are on sale in a store in Australia for $40 AUD.. while the SR850 are $65 AUD and the HD668B being $100 AUD from the UK.

If your looking for a budget headphone, the Samson SR-850 should do the job.
You can get generic Velour ear pads for the SR850 for around $16, off eBay.
Any ear pad that fits the AKG K240/241/270/271 or Superlux HD668B, HD662, HD681, will fit on the SR-850.

Thanks! Are the ear pads hard to replace? I assume the SR-850 have leather ear pads.
 
So will it affect sound if I used velor instead of leather? or is it just to make it more comfortable?

Real Leather ear pads coming stock on $50 headphones?

I believe the SR-850s come stock with fake leather ear pads.
I use real AKG Velour ear pads on my SR850, normally the AKG Velours are $46, but I order in bulk from Europe and price was $24 (Thank you Thomann).
So I'm assuming the OEM "made in China" $16 pads sold on eBay are a little less quality then real AKG pads, but still decent for the price.
The only reason I swapped for the AKG Velours was for comfort, did not really care how it might have affected sound quality.
