Hello all,
Still new and learning so your patience and input are extremely valuable.

Since getting my Hornet and K701's, I've been spoiled and am wanting to upgrade my Shure E2C IEMs. I do like my 701's a lot and wanted to know if there is something out there in the $299 (max) that sounds similar and will give me the same amount of joy on the road?

I've been looking at the UM2, E4C, Superfi.5, or the triplefi.10 (if I can find it cheaper)

E4c all the way baby, if you like the E2c, the E4 just cranks up the SQ 10 fold. If youre more into bass you might wanna look at the UM2s a little closer as well.

Add another vote to the E4. Great IEM, and miles better than the E2, and also much clearer than the E3. So I would just skip that E3 step, and get the E4. OR you could go Etymotic, and get the ER-4P. Both are solid choices.

What about the ER-4S? It's got at least the same amount of resolving power as the K701.

I haven't heard the K701, but the ER-4x's are very analytical, although the E500's are the best IEM's I've ever heard

You can find ER-4's for under $200

i have a e2c too and it recently borken (a driver lost its sound) and i am considering to get a new headphone too...
currently favor senn PXC-300
