I'm locking for something like the Beresford Caiman DAC.

- 2 sources (PC over USB, Xbox360 over Toslink)
- Output with Volume Control for my monitors (EMES Black)
- Headphone AMP (with Volume Control) for my Sennheiser HD650

Price: 200-400$

P.s. Or should I buy an USB Audio Interface + Headphone AMP like the Lake People G93?

Edit: Beresford TC-7520 for 140£ + Lake People G93, good idea?

Sennheiser HD650.

But where can I buy the Audio-GD FUN? I live in Switzerland, by the way xD

Get the Maverick Audio D1 imo. I own it and it works quite well for $200 usd

Without a doubt do not under any circumstances buy the Beresford.

Stanley Beresford is a cheat and a liar and has a well documented history of lying and defaming this forum.

I know who Stan is and I don't care about that. I just need a good DAC with maybe a headphone amp which is good enough for my Sennheiser HD650. Or could I use the headphone-out from my Denon PMA700AE?

Are there any other devices? I mean, everywhere I read bad things about the Beresford Caiman or the Maverick Audio D1. The Caiman headphone amp is not loud enough, or the Maverick Volume Control sucks etc.

I don't have the HD650 yet

But I will buy it next week.

A friend told me that the headphone-amp of a good stereoamp does a better job than the amps in these DACs (200-400$). Do you agree?

If your gonna have a hd650 I'd say go with a DAC and a AMP.
The emu 404 (dont know the exact name but it's a standard around here) and a little dot mk3 would do the job nicely.
All those not very expensive dac/amp combos are nice but they cant really make the hd6XX sing like they should.

I have the Caiman and use use it with my grado RS2i's, sounds pretty good to me. The caiman will have more than enough gain for hd650's.

The caiman as a dac i think is excellent also. Using my iphone with a russ andrews GQ-24 LOD as a source for a Bravo audio hybrid amp compared to the caiman as the source, the caiman is night and day better than the ipod source, far better than any tube role on the bravo.

I have seen somewhere else someone compare a graham slee solo srgII with psu and he said there wasnt much between them

I think my Denon AMP should be good enough for this job. I will test it next week.

But I still need a good DAC xD

Maverick volume control is only bad for the lower impedance phones. HD650 will be fine with it, seeing as how it requires more current.

EDIT: If you only need a good DAC, get the nuforce uDAC for $99.

I need a DAC with 1 USB port, 1 Toslink port and 2 analog outputs.
