I own a 3rd gen, 20 gig iPod, and I'm getting a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 Pro's. I've heard they sound weak on iPods, so I'm looking for an amp that works well with them. I'm fairly new to amps, so I'm not sure what I should get, any help?

Well, I'm not looking to spend $700, but I don't want crap. Probably between $150-$250, maybe $300.

Gilmore Lite $300 (although not portable so probably not what you want)
SuperMacro $250 +
Portaphile $175
MINT amp $75 < (various builders)

are the most popular amps in your price range... these forums are laden with all the information you will need to make your decision just run a quick search.

I have the same combination and I don't find the sound weak at all. I use an amp for a fuller more detailed sound but it is not needed for louder IMHO.

are you planning on buying a portable or home amp? i think the Supermacro is great for both home and portable use, but i enjoy the sound of the Gilmore Lite with my Senns than i do with the Supermacro. JMO
