I'd like to be able to play my ipods/karma/x5 through my home stereo tuner, and would like some recommendations with a decent home headphone amp (or similar) to drive the dap's with enough power. Now and again, I'd also like to use it (obviously) with my headphones (770/80s, headphiled 580s, headphiled 225's, and headphiled hf-1's), but it would primarily be used along with the home unit.

My price range is around $300 (could go as high as $450 if it's kickass)

My best amp right now is a SM3v6 and I think it would do the job, but I'd like a dedicated home stereo unit

Why not post in the amp forum?
I'm not sure what you are asking. From what you stated you would need an fm transmiter to play your portable through your tuner? Be more specific in describing your home stereo and what it is you exactly looking for. If your looking fo a home amp with a headphone out try the Dared Mp-5 Tube Headphone amp. It may be out of your price range but kickass.

I hope this helps.
Later.
