There was a time I thought I didn't need a dedicated headphone amp because my Marantz SR5003 receiver did a good job, but now I'm facing some power issues. The Marantz just can't power my DT880 enough.
So I need a real headphone amp. I read hundreds of topics about lots of amps. One pairs well with the DT880, another one with the HD650. But which amp fits both? That's really important for me, as I'm planning to buy a HD650 as well.
I really want a SS amp. I know lots of peope recommend tube amps, but I have a Phenix G3 here and I just can't get used to the sound of it. I like the sound of my Marantz SR5003 receiver more.
Maximum budget is around $500. I live in Europe, so European manufacturers or distributors are a plus (only because the shipping cost will be lower and there's no risk of extra costs like import taxes). But if the best amp comes from overseas, that shouldn't be a problem.
What do you guys recommend?
