Hi.

I used to have really bassy headphones out of whim and those were absolutely destroying my ears.

Most of the times, I ended up not enjoying the music after 30min - 1 hr of listening session.

What closed headphones would you recommend for neutral listening for under $200? or $200 range?

Not gospel, just what I would go for if the requirements are comfort and very long, easy-listening sessions:

Open-back - Sennehiser HD599 or HD579.
Closed-back - AKG K553

Sennheiser HD600 (650 has slightly stronger bass, but I still find it still close to neutral and relaxing)

I'm not comfortable recommending any other closed-back headphones up to the Beyerdynamic DT1770, since most of the ones I've auditioned or owned have a bassier or v-shaped sound signature.
So it might be difficult to find a smoother, more relaxed sounding closed-back.
Having said that, I guess Sennheiser Momentum 2 could also be a fair contender if only it had just a bit more treble.

Does it have to be closed backed?
