Welcome.

I suggest also reading and posting in the portable headphones forum.

What portable source will you be using with your portable headphones?

What is your budget for buying headphones and an amp?

Will you be needing closed headphones to help prevent the sound from leaking out and bothering others near by? Or, will you not be using these headphones around others?

OK, so you probably will be better off with closed headphones or IEMs. The ATH-M50, D1001, or a modified Creative Aurvana Live! may work well for you. Search "M50", "D1001", and "CAL!". You can read about IEMs in the portable headphones forum. And I suggest reading and posting in the portable amp forum.
