Cheap, easy...pick one. Well, depends on what you mean by easy. A 'Cmoy' with an AD8397 is fairly easy and I bet it would satisfy quite a few people as well...at least as long as you don't tell them what's inside! :p

However, real high performance on a limited budget isn't all that easy. Work on your DIY skills, though, and it can pay off in the long run with the variety of very nice DIY designs out there

i had a slight bout with DIY a few days ago, and let's just say i burned myself multiple times with the soldering iron. DIY amps... out of the question, haha.

if anyone knows some killer value combinations for a home/portable setup, please share~

Thanks for the info about the AC adapter, it definitely helps the porta corda out. Highly recommended...
