Purpose:
1. Gaming *
2. Music **
Constraints (Required):
1. $130 budget (This is a self-imposed limit, so I don't plan to save and spend more than this) for both the microphone and headphone. I prefer not to spend this much of course.
2. The headphones must be very comfortable (The most important criteria).
3. No large microphones that protrude the front of the headphones. No zalman microphones (I've heard they're too sensitive and a loud fans spin near the PC).
4. No amplifiers
Preferences (Not required, but preferable):
1. Wireless (I am aware of the conflict between audio and wireless, but I will absolutely accept this compromise where there is minor audio difference).
2. Circumaural (Highly preferred since I don't believe I've ever owned a pair of circumaural headphones).
3. Good highs and mids (Not an audiophile so I hope these are the right terms; I've only used ear looped headsets before this and IEM for COWON J3).
4. Closed (Comfort takes priority).
5. Unidirectional microphone.
Indifferent:
1. Portability.
2. Color.
3. Bass.
Current microphone options I've found via reseach:
1. VMODA 1-Button SpeakEasy Mic Cable (Unsure about this since there's been no mention regarding PC usage; $15)
2. Olympus ME-15 ($15)
3. Sony ECMCS3 ($20)
Current headphone options I've found via research ***:
1. NVX Audio XPT100
2. ATH TAD500
3. ATH AD700/AD700x/A700/A700x
4. AKG 240 MK
5. Sennheiser HD280/RS130/160 (I've heard of clamp issues though)
6. Superlux HD668B
* MMORPG, so footsteps stuff doesn't matter
** Highly varied music assortment. Three examples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0azaOX-SOZc, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7zVxulhe4g, and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVvFTKa62Ts
*** Uninterested in M50s since I've heard they're uncomfortable and the earphone easily deteriorates
Which combination of these would best meet the criteria?
