Hey everyone,

I suddenly realized the need for me to work out and burn some calories and that led me to realize that my current options for mp3 players do not really serve me too well for the gym
iRiver H120 -- too bulky and its hard disk based (havent done the CF mod yet)
Sony PSP -- WAY too bulky
Nokia N91 8gb -- my current choice but it is also hard disk based so it has all the problems that hd players have whe working out.

So i need a suggestion. I'm looking for a player which is
1. Flash based
2. Can play mp3, wma (optional ogg)
3. Small (smaller than the H-120 or the N91 for sure)
4. Optional : armband accessory (this would be nice but it isnt vital)
5. Preferably cheap ($100 or less)
6. I dont care if it has a screen or not
7. Optional : workout features like a calorie counter (again not vital)

I've been looking at the Zen Stones and the Shuffles but I really cant decide. So any advice will be useful. I'll be using the player with either my sleek SA6 or my Sennheiser MX75 (twist to fit).

If you can't get the i7 then go for the clip. i7 would be the preferred though!!!

nthing the Clip. If you destroy it inadvertently it won't be too much of a burden. The iAudio 7 is a little more pricey.

LOL - not if the OP can get it from a fellow Head-Fi'er!!! Then it worth it.

I would go for the Clip, costs quite a bit less than an iAudio 7, fits the criteria, even does Ogg Vorbis.

I would like to partially derail this thread (please don't hurt me!) and ask if anyone could recommend me some 'phones for the gym. Will earphones like the Head-direct re2's or Westone um1's not do well in the gym because of the microphonics I get from just walking around (well, I can hear my feet moving about)? I was thinking about getting pk3's if I was deciding to head to the gym.

What do you think?

The iAudio 7 is a good flash player...I own the 4GB.

Check the For Sale Section...there was a good deal on an almost new one last week

This is a little expensive for my liking. Anyone know of a head to head comparison with the clip? Even detailed reviews for either would be good.

I felt that the shuffle was overpriced for the purpose and I can get a lot more features with the other two suggestions above.

Good point......also I wouldn't mind some suggestions for some bassy headphones for the gym.....i've used the v-moda bass freq ones before but they don't stay in my ear when i start sweating during a work out.....and i'm having second thoughts about using my sleeks for the gym just bcos i feel like i'm too preoccupied to notice how amazing the music sounds...lol

thanks again everyone

sony nwz sxxx series . Best portable for gym activity ever. lighter than a feather and smaller then the nwz axxx series and chaeap with the same sound as the nwz axxx series. perrfecr for the gym , however perfect would be wireless headphones and bluetooth...but then the sound would be crappy
