Audio Gd FUN DAC/amp: 350 shipped
http://www.audio-gd.com/Pro/Headphoneamp/FUN/FUNEN.htm

Denon D2000 (doesn't even matter what you listen to, these are good at everything)                 : 229

Who said you had to spend 1000 haha. This setup should kick a bunch of ass and you'll be able to find the Denon's for much less on the used market here. Even if you don't get the headphones right on the first try, just buy on the Head-Fi marketplace and trade around to get what you like.

lol, I don't like the D2000s. Does that mean I hate everything?

It's more than likely that you hate everything haha.

Although I would have bought one if it weren't for the SR-225's, I just wouldn't recommend them to everybody

I would go and get the LCD-2 or D7k and build your system around it. The LCD-2 pretty much destroys the D2k and is great for music. If you're a movie lover I would recommend the D7k since it has thumping bass.

You probably don't like the V shaped frequency of the Denon headphones. The D2ks have recessed mids, shrill highs and bloated bass. It's a good headphone at it's pricepoint though.

Yeah, I was only joking. I used to enjoy a v shaped sound. I've never had such a large budget for a system, so I can't really help you, OP. I'm more of a DIYer.

Sorry for the derailment.
