Hi there,
I usually carry my old Sennheiser (cable) in-ear headphones with me.
However, I don't use them very often in the office (computer scientist) or while travelling
because I'm often too lazy to fiddle them out, sort out the cable mess, etc.
That's why I want to buy new and better quality ones, main points are better sound quality.
I did not yet decide whether in-ear or on/over-ear, I don't mind both but I don't know which ones are
more suitable for my purpose.
I want:
to make phone calls
so they should have a decent mic
mostly while working (homeoffice or office)
eventually have noise cancellation (I'm not sure because it seems to
affect sound quality as far as I have read, I'm also not sure if it is necessary
when using in-ears)
this is a wish, I just find it convenient if I don't have to put down my headphones to accept calls and switch
to the phone or another headset... I'm not sure if it aligns with the other points
to listen to music
I usually listen to:
metalcore (slightly bass heavy)
acoustic (guitar)
sometimes classic (piano, violin, ludovico einaudi and similar)
sometimes audiobooks or radio documentaries
the quality has to be good, I guess that's not a problem with the price limit I have set
be comfortable and "easy to use "
I want to pull them out and use them, no cables, no bulky stuff
for travelling I suppose in-ears would be more convenient, however I'm not sure
and I would also use on/over-ears if they are better
optional: sports
I'd also use them for running, of course only when I decide to get in-ears
however, when running I don't really need the best sound quality as I'm busy breathing etc
so I could just use some cheaper bluetooth headphones for this purpose
As I don't follow recent headphone/headset developments I'm still not sure about the
sound quality, headset quality etc of in-ear vs on-ear nowadays.
I know that bluetooth might reduce the quality a bit, but in this case comfort wins for me.
I don't carry an amplifier or particular audio device, I usually use my android smartphone.
I would be very thankful if anyone could lead me into the right direction a bit..
Thanks a lot,
Christoph
