In summary:
Looking for 2 pairs of headphones to cover the widest genre's of music. And call it a day. Also need 1 amp/dac that works well with both those headphones. This is a complicated love triangle. The amp/dac should suit both headphones.
Budget: $1000-$1200 each headphone
Amp/DAC: $1000
Listening habit: For these headphones and amp, permanently at home, when working. So no need for portability.
Currently own
Headphones: the Focal Clear
Amp/DAC: Schiit Lyr3 with Tung-sol 6SN7
THINKING OF GETTING:
I was thinking of getting the Sony MDR-Z1R and Sennheiser HD 800S with a Woo Audio WA7 amp/DAC and call it a day. Have not heard either, just based on YouTube reviews and impressions in forums.
I do listen to every genre of music. I wish there was somewhere in Chicago I could demo both these headphones or others.
