I am looking for a CD player to feed my REF1 my budget is 2-3k any ideas?

Sorry not to be able to offer any answer, but I'd be much interested in learning what a high-end transport such as the one you are looking for is capable of compared to cheaper alternatives.

I have a feeling we are going to hear the word "jitter" a whole lot in this thread. (If you don't know about jitter, you should read the article in this issue of the Audio Critic: Audio Critic Issue No. 21)

To answer Devin's question, if you are only going to be using the player as a transport, I wouldn't spend nearly that much money (unless you are going the music server route).

But if you are inclined to spend a lot on a transport, this is a good deal for the dCs Verdi. Obviously if you can find a good deal on an Esoteric, that would be the best transport you can get, but likely to be very expensive.
