Right now, I am able to listen to iTunes on my HT using my Creative Sound Blaster X-FI HD's  USB to optical S/PDIF interface between laptop and HT preamp. Thing is, my wife complains she's always tripping over either the USB or optical cable. I thought about getting a Logitech Squeezebox but it's expensive. Any other WI-FI devices out there that can receive laptop stream and send to 24/96 preamp input?

What about a WD TV Live? You can use it to stream many different types of media and hook it to your AVR with optical or HDMI. Then it uses your AVRs DAC. Not sure what sampling/bit rate it supports.
